UPDATE! I got a great suggestion from Steven Harrell to put up a poll of all the current restaurant picks below, and then vote, so here is a link I would you all to go to and cast your vote!

The restaurant at The Forum is Osteria Cicchetti's, family style italian. Terrific food, very reasonable prices. I eat there at least once a week and never tire of it. Try one of their crispy crust pizzas and the spinach salad with pears and walnuts.

Breaking news, he is opening a new restaurant in the The Forum. More news about that later, should be open this fall.

Circa is my absolute favorite. Also similar, and owned by the same person, is Boca Bay near Wrightsville Beach. Both have tapas-style dishes. The owner also has a restaurant at the forum near Mayfaire called Osteria Cochetti (spelling?). Delicious!

Circa 1922, 8 N. Front St., 762-1922. www.circa1922.com. Circa 1922 is home to tapas-style dining and a wine bar in historic downtown Wilmington. Circa 1922 captures the spirit of tapas: fresh, exquisitely presented and highly creative small plates. A 12-bottle custom cruvinet keeps our wines by the glass consistently fresh and true to taste or choose from an eclectic international selection of wines by the bottle. After-work tapas specials, weekly sushi specials and a 3-course prix fixe menu make Circa 1922 a popular downtown destination.
We love Indochine. But lately, Big Thai has become another of our favorites:

Indochine is pretty tasty. Have you ever been to Jessamine?

I heard Jessamine closed as well as the cuban place.

It would be a short topic if it was just about Thai in Wilmington! I agree with most of the ones above, Portland Grille is our favorite spot for special occasions. The menu is just so creative and has items you won't find anywhere else in town. Sunday brunch spot? try Jester's on Castle St. Very good and the vibe is just right! The Naked Kingfish is another favorite and some of our regular stops are Casey's, Amy's (Big Fat Greek for me!), Cubby's, LaCosta (has gotten much better lately!), Hibachi Bistro and the Mellow Mushroom. I also like George's downtown, great location.

I saw in the Business Journal that Catch is going to be opening up another restaurant at the old Luigi's place (which used to be my favorite restaurant noone had ever heard of, unfortunately that proved to be accurate!) which is on Market across from Harley Davidson.
Big Thai on 4th Street is tough to beat. If you like authentic Mexican and can by pass the atmosphere quotient then Los Portales is awesome. No chips and salsa here. Its on Wrightsville Ave between Kerr and College.
indochine is very good and family friendly. my favorite place to eat right now is Tokyo Deli on Carolina Beach Rd. i have to go there at least once a week to try something and have not been disappointed yet.
I have to venture down to Southport for what I think is the best Thai food to Thai Peppers. Haven't been over there in a long while, but it has always been good.

Since we are talking about great restaurants all around, I'll add some others......I am a huge fan of Mexican food and really like El Agave on Oleander. Other favorite restaurants of mine are Deck House at Carolina Beach and Naked Kingfish in Ogden. I like a good salad and have found the salads at Eddie Romanellis and RuckerJohns to be my favorites.

The funny thing about restaurants in Wilmington is that they come and go so quickly, so I am always on the lookout for something new!
Favorite Spots:

K38 on Oleander(Tower 7 with Tuna), Sahara on Market St , Sweet and Savory (shrimp gyro), Osteria Chiccettis at the Forum (arugula pizza), Indochine (shrimp curry), La Costa (chicken taco), Elijahs (crab dip), and Dockside (bloody marys) :)
My gosh, we have the same EXACT taste buds... that is my favorite thing as well!

And even though it is so over the top, I am a big fan of Hiro. Yes, the presentation is cool but the food is also top notch IMHO.

I am hoping that this forum isn't just about Thai if so forgive the faux paus (sp?).

If so My favorite Wilmington meal is a Flaming Amy Burrito Barn "Fried Buffalo Chicken Burrito with Ranch", Queso Dip as an app, Tomatillo Salsa from the bar. That is what is good about life!!! Several other fav's around town but I have a last meal request, that is what it will be!

A close second it General Tso's Chicken from Lucky Star. They do it different than everywhere else in town and it is good to me!

Several fancy dancy places I like as well but these are my favorite two meals in Wilmington.

Coach Reggie
The two of us can eat at Flaming Amy's for about $4.50, so that's the cheap but amazing dinner of choice a lot of nights (cuban pork taco...yum). Indochine I could eat every night of the week; love Terrazo for Italian; Nikki's (downtown is my fave) for sushi; Chris' Cosmic Kitchen for lunch (and cheesecake!!); Milners Cafe on Judges Rd. is also a fantastic new breakfast/lunch spoti...
Has anyone tried Aubriana's in downtown Wilmington?
I don't see Siena listed here. Great pizzas and many other Italian dishes! Trattoria and Pizzeria. 3315 Masonboro Loop Road

Tell Jeff and Rob, the owners, that Jim and Denise said 'HI'!
