Here are some great little hotspots of mine because of special dishes or great service...

#1. Goody Goody Omelet House--get a cheeseburger deluxe with grilled onions, YUM! Go during the week because Saturdays and Sundays are packed out the door!

#2. Double Happiness- Double steamer appetizer, Mango Salad, Spicy Basil Beef or Chicken and Brown Rice--BTW they have great lunch specials!

#3. Caprice Bistro--The Triplets of Caprice (du jour) then Waterzooi (or the rabbit-which has become a 'habit' for me!) There are a couple of waiters there who truly understand fine service. There is also a great wine cellar at Caprice.

#4 Marc's on Market--Where to begin...the Fork Tender Beef Short Ribs are just that! The scallops, stuffed flounder, lamb shank are all perfectly prepared, and the service is usually A+

#5. South Beach Grille- Grouper Nancy or the crab nachos, or anyone of the sliders on the menu--another weekday place to eat, since it's at the beach they are full on Saturdays and Sundays.

Bon Apetit,
Chef Lori

The Copper Penny is the newest restaurant to my list, I had lunch there and was very impressed, good food, good service, and good price.

Buoy 32 is one of my all time favorite places to go. In two years, these are the first negative comments I have heard. I am so sad to hear that you had a bad experience.

If you like lamb, you will love the lamb at Laterna. This restaurant is the most over looked restaurant in Wilmington. Great service, Great food at a reasonable price. Greek Lamb, the best! A BIG thumbs up.

Anni, Your not alone I had tried Buoy 32 Bistro twice and was not a happy boy.
Another restaurant to stay away from is Ruth Chris high price and the worst food. I've had a much better steak at Texas Road House for a whole lot less. This is my opinion and I'm sticken to it.

Unfortunately, my first contribution to this group will not be on a positive note. However, after seeing such good reviews of this place, I was sorely disappointed. I went to Buoy 32 Bistro on Friday night after reading good reviews. I must say that upon our arrival and for at least 20 minutes afterwards, there was only one other table occupied. It was not busy. We each ordered the special which was teriyaki grouper. We ended up waiting about 50 minutes for our meal to arrive and it was only after we kindly asked our server where our meal was….I will also say that the actual size of our meal was oddly tiny and only the barest taste of teriyaki was present. Not including alcohol, our bill came to almost $80. Given the weather, we would have done better to stay in and order a pizza.
