Why the name 3rd Street Plaza?
Well, according to Joe Sheppard, a well known
Wilmington historian, people decades ago use to socialize, meet
people, enjoy picnics, and even network at a location you perhaps
walk by everyday, the southwest corner of Third and Docks streets,
commonly known back then as 'Wilmington 3rd Street Plaza.'
All that is left today is just remnants of the site of Wilmington's
original gathering place. Below is a picture of how this area
looked years ago.
Thus, we developed this site and concept to add a modern twist to
this historic area, Wilmington's very first Social Media web site!
So we invite those that live in or around Wilmington North Carolina
to enjoy new friendships, meet and socialize with new people, rant
and rave about Wilmington, create your own blog, start a discussion
in the forum, share your pictures, videos and much more with this
modern '3rd Street Plaza.' Lets socialize on the Plaza!
