I just finished the Shaw House quilt. The home is named Birchwood and is located on the shores of Lake Michigan in Leland, Michigan. Birch trees are the most common types of trees with the White Cedar following second. The house was built in the late 1970's and was home to a family with 4 children. The children, who are now grown with families of their own, commissioned me to create this quilt for their parents anniversary and Christmas. They wanted the most memorable parts of the landscape to dominate the subject of the quilt. The house sits very high up on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. I needed to foreshorten the landscape to fit everything in. Therefore the distance between the water and the lake looks much less than it really is.

I haven't decided on the subject of my next quilt. If there's something you would like to see or you would like to commission a custom quilt, contact me at Cheryl@CoastalLandmarkQuilts.com.
