Three Ring Purpose Needs Your Help!

Good morning everyone!!! I hope that you’re all familiar with the hotel’s Three Ring Purpose program, but if you’re a new follower of our hotel, please click here for a previous blog post / press release regarding the program.

Last week, I received this email from a parent in the Wilmington, NC area:

“Thanks so much for getting in touch with me. The school is [unpublished for privacy]. It is a [primary] school. I am not sure the number of binders they need, but any amount would be appreciated.  I personally volunteered in a kindergarten classroom yesterday. Out of the 21 students maybe half of them had turned in their binders. Every child at the entire school uses the 3 ring binders. They do a BEE book. It stands for Bring Everything Everyday. All their homework, charts (like ABC’s, numbers, etc..), important info, notes from the teachers and such go in those books. That way the children learn organization.  Also there is no missed notes or letters from either parents or teachers because the parents and teachers check the binders daily. We have 7 kindergarten classes. I imagine that if one class was missing almost half the binders, several of the other classes are in the same boat. That’s not even counted the 1st and Wnd grade classes. We pretty much depleted the schools supply closet trying to find binders just for that one class. The teacher ended up giving us her own money and sent us to a store to get the zipper pouches and such that she also needed for the kids. Most teachers are taking their own money and going out and buying things for the students that the parents do not turn in. Again, any amount would be greatly appreciated.”

To date, Three Ring Purpose has placed approximately 2,587 binders into the hands of our area school children – and we think that 3,500 would be a GREAT goal for the 2011-2012 school year. We’ve exhausted our supply of binders on hand doing Back to School, but the above email tells me that there’s still more need in the Wilmington, NC area.  Please think about making a donation to Three Ring Purpose! If you work for a company that’s switching to electronically stored data, we’d LOVE to have your old binders. If you have extra binders lying around your house, we’d LOVE to have those too!!!! They can absolutely have already been used – we’re not asking for new binders – just anything that can be used again by a child in our area. We collect binders right here at the hotel, and will work quickly to get each donation into the hands on children in need.
