We Support Operation Salsa Drop!

The Holiday Inn Express(r) & Suites Wilmington – University Center is proud to announce one more way that we’re supporting Wilmington-based charities! We have begun purchasing salsa from an organization called “Operation Salsa Drop,” which is headed up by the owners of the popular Wilmington restaurants Flaming Amy’s Burrito Barn & Flaming Amy’s Bowl. This salsa goes into our VIP gift baskets, which are delivered to guests at least once per week. We’ve had great feedback from our guests thus far – the salsa’s amazingly tasty for our guests to enjoy AND the purchase of it has led to tasty benefits members of our military.

Operation Salsa Drop works in several different ways (but all ways reach the same mission set by the organization – “to exploit any means necessary to provide our delicious Flaming Amy’s salsas to the brave men and women serving our country in Afghanistan and Iraq.” The most basic way to support Operation Salsa Drop is through the method that we’re using – buy salsa directly from Flaming Amy’s and know that, for every jar purchased, a portion of the proceeds goes toward sending a jar of sales to a servicemen or servicewoman deployed overseas. You can also make a $15 donation to OSD to cover the shipping & handling of a case of the 3 salsa varieties (“Fire in the Hole!” – Flaming Hot Salsa, “Shock ‘N’ Awesome” – Pineapple Jalapeno Salsa, “TARFU” – Traditional Tomato) to be sent to a deployed servicemember. If you want to sponsor a particular servicemember, a $45 “Salsa Drop Sponsorship” will get a case of salsa to your favorite soldier! Operation Salsa Drop also accepts cash donations of any amount, and all monies collected go toward getting salsa to soldiers! Finally, if you know of someone who’s deployed overseas and would be able to fight harder if they had some delicious salsa to back them up, please email OSD at list@operationsalsadrop.org , including the soldier’s rank, name, and APO/FPO address. That soldier will be placed on the list and, as soon as the money is available, they’ll receive their care package of Operation Salsa Drop salsa!

We hope that our purchases will help in truly making a soldier’s day a little brighter on the day that they open a care package from Operation Salsa Drop. We know that no salsa in the world can truly make repayment for all that they have sacrificed to keep our country and our families safe, but sometimes it’s the simple small things from “home” that make the distance between wherever they are and wherever we are feel a little smaller. Helping Operation Salsa Drop is just our way of saying “THANK YOU” to everyone’s who’s deployed and fighting for our country. We appreciate all that our military has done and is doing!
