Welcome to Wilmington, Iron Man 3!

Good afternoon to all of you! Thanks for checking in and catching up with our blog this week. We’re prepping for the big Beach2Battleship race that’s set to take place tomorrow and are ready for all of the fun that November will bring. (Wilmington is one of my FAVORITE cities to see decked out for the holidays!)

We have exciting news for those of you who are movie buffs! Wilmington, NC … a.k.a. “Hollywood East” … learned this week that the city will play host to its largest movie production ever – “Iron Man 3!” “Iron Man 3″ will feature an all-star cast that includes Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlet Johansson, and Don Cheadle. Production is set to begin in 2012 for the movie, which is expected to be released on May 3, 2013. Governor Bev Perdue was on-hand at EUE / Screen Gems Studios to officially deliver the news yesterday afternoon. “Iron Man 3″ is expected to bring over 500 jobs to the Wilmington area, and bring $80 million to our local economy. As a hotel, we look forward to working with people who are traveling to NC to support this film as actors, extras, technical advisers, promoters, or spectators. We know that our city will shine throughout the production of this movie, and we look forward to hearing the next big movie announcement!
